Belk is addressing the need for more inclusivity and diversity in beauty, in stores and on its website. The need for more diversity in the beauty industry is a topic often addressed at CEW events, including its recent Diversity & Inclusivuty Forum.
Belk’s new Inclusive Beauty collection features diverse-owned brands, and extensive shade ranges, with products celebrating different skin tones, hair textures, ages, and genders.
The retailer’s curated collection on Belk.com includes products for every skin tone and hair texture, and diverse images.
Belk launched Culture Shop in 2021 to add more than a dozen diverse-owned brands to its vendor lineup.
Its new Inclusive Beauty features Charlotte, NC brand Elle Johnson Co.; haircare company Rucker Roots; men’s grooming line That’s Smoooth from Afro-Latino founder, Miguel Martinez; Talia Skincare; and 20 other diverse brands.
Don Hendricks, CEO, Belk, says, “Inclusive Beauty is an expansion of our commitment to ensure all customers are represented at Belk. Ever since launching Culture Shop, we continue working to find brands and products that highlight the diversity of our customers.”
The retailer plans to add even more companies to the assortment in early 2023.
