I’ve tried countless concealers, from drugstore to high-end. And while I have favorites that I would likely grieve over if ever discontinued, I’m always eager to try a new product. Cue F*ck I’m Flawless Multi-Use Perfecting Concealer from Il Makiage, the tech-first cosmetics line you’ve surely seen on your Instagram feed. The brand wants you to feel just that after applying it: flawless.
And while I found its concealer to be both buildable and blendable, I’m equally impressed with the brand’s Try Before You Buy feature.
Let’s dig a little deeper.

About My Skin
Typically, when I hear the words “matte finish,” I frantically run in the other direction. If you couldn’t tell, my skin is on the dry side. And Il Makiage F*ck I’m Perfect is oil-free and water-based, making it a natural choice for oily skin.
Finding Your Shade: Ask a Pro
To determine your ideal shade from the available 27 concealing shades and three color correctors, you’ll need to know your skin’s undertone. Il Makiage’s in-house makeup artist Gia Rodriguez offered up a good rule of thumb: “You likely have a pink or cool undertone if you look better in silver jewelry or you burn easily under the sun,” she explains. “You likely have a yellow or warm undertone if your veins have a greenish hue and you tan or darken easily under the sun.” For extra help with shade matching, the product page will narrow down potential shade options by letting you filter through your skin tone and undertone.
You can also take the brand’s 90-second (yes, I timed it) Powermatch quiz on its website to find your shade match.
Shade Range: Mostly Warm to Cool
You can sort through the available 30 shades by undertone: pink, yellow, orange, or neutral, which is a combination of pink and yellow tones. While there are nine yellow-toned shades, five pink, and 10 orange, those with neutral undertones only have two shades to choose from.
However, you can mix these shades for a customized look.
How to Apply
Apply with your fingers, an included applicator brush, or a beauty sponge. Rodriguez recommends applying the concealer with the the brand’s 140 Concealer Brush ($34).
“The duo-fiber bristles pick up the perfect amount of product and give an airbrushed finish to the skin,” Rodriguez says.
The Results: Even Coverage
Upon application, I noticed the soft, creamy texture. I didn’t need to pile on layers to get the pigment to distribute evenly. It provided fuller coverage with the brush versus a beauty sponge, but both methods resulted in a lightweight, second-skin feel without creasing.
Personally, I enjoyed this for all-around concealing versus using just under the eyes. Its highly pigmented formula almost makes it feel like a foundation, sans weightiness, and it successfully evened out my skin tone without looking unnatural.

Dryness or Irritation: None Whatsoever
This concealer has a super hydrating, weightless feel. I didn’t experience any irritation or dryness—just soft, creamy coverage.
Although it’s long-wearing—which can sometimes also mean drying—the silicone-based formula allows it to adhere to the skin with a smooth finish.
At $26 for 7 ml of product, this mid-range concealer is priced slightly higher than similar products. But there’s value in Il Makiage’s Try Before You Buy policy. Select up to three full-size products to try and pay for shipping. After 14 days, you’ll only be billed for the products you keep. This way, you can try the concealer commitment-free, and if you don’t like it, you’ll only be out $5 for shipping.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer: Also cruelty-free, vegan, and with a long-wearing formula, this popular pick from Rihanna’s namesake beauty brand boasts a greater shade range for $26.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer: The vegan, full-coverage formula also comes in 30 shades, but it contains nourishing ingredients like mango seed and shea butter. And it usually costs about $27 for 10 ml.
The creamy, buildable formula is a winner for color-correcting and concealing without a cakey finish. And the no-commitment guarantee is a low-risk way to try it. We’re in.
